Tom Merrifield

Born in Laguna Beach, CA and Studied Int'l Business Management at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. After graduating, I moved to Germany and worked in the pharmaceutical industry in marketing and management positions for 23 years. I moved back tot he US with my family (wife and 2 daughters) in 2013 and chose Mt. Pleasant. I consulted for pharmaceutical companies part-time, but wanted to get into real estate. I started investing in real estate in 2014 and became a full-time real estate investor in 2017. Over the past 6 years I have wholesaled and flipped approximately 30 residential and properties, I have purchased over residential units. I now own approx. 80 units, consisting of approx. 40 single-family and multi-family homes as well as 2 trailer parks, all in South Carolina. I belong to a national real estate investment mastery group and also meet weekly with a local investment group comprised of landlords, flippers, lenders, contractors, brokers and agents. I decided to get my real estate license in order to broaden the possibilities within the investment realm as well as spend some of my time and energy as an agent, where I believe I can bring a unique perspective to European retail customers as well as those who want to purchase fixer uppers.

Kevin Zimmerly

I was born and raised in Wooster, Ohio and graduated from The University of Akron in Mechanical Engineering.  I then commissioned as a Submarine Warfare Officer with the United States Navy.  My passion for Charleston occurred while stationed here in 2010 at the Naval Weapons Station.  While in the Navy for 7 years, I served on 2 ballistic missile subs- the USS Maryland and USS West Virginia. I was stationed in multiple places along the East Coast and have been involved in multiple home purchases. I have experience as a landlord, property manager, and investor. While on shore duty in Baton Rouge, LA as a NROTC Instructor, I earned my MBA at LSU and met the love of my life, Rebecca.  After graduation, I became an equipment manager for a leading asphalt producing company in Ann Arbor, Michigan. I managed more than 300 pieces of equipment with a repair budget of $3M. This transition lead me to earning 90 hours of real estate classroom credit at CofC. Other passions include volunteering for Habitat for Humanity, watching movies, woodworking, and DIY projects. Rebecca and I are excited to be a part of the Charleston Community and plan to make the area our long-term home.

Sarah Pursell

Sarah has a passion for all things real estate and all things investing. She began her investing career in 2004 as a newlywed, when she and her then-husband bought a condo in Southern, CA, renovated it, and sold it 18 months later for a 43% profit. Over the years, she has owned many long term rentals, and has flipped almost every house she’s lived in, maximizing profits along the way using the capital gains tax exemption for homeowners, the VA loan for 100% financing on purchases, and 1031 exchanges to maximize her investment portfolio. In 2016, Sarah decided to try hosting her basement apartment on Airbnb. Since then, she has continued expanding her Short Term Rental portfolio, managing for others, assisting others in staging and listing their own STRs, and becoming an Airbnb Ambassador. She spent 2020 and 2021 flipping and staging houses, and now focuses on the BRRRR strategy to Buy homes, Renovate them, Refinance, Rent (on Airbnb & VRBO), and Repeat! She loves helping others acquire and prepare their own short term rental investment properties. Sarah was born and raised in California. She graduated from Westmont College in Santa Barbara in 1998 with a B.A. in Psychology, and a B.A. in Sociology. She has four children whom she homeschools when she’s not buying, selling, or investing in real estate.

Brandon Sinkler

Brandon spent nearly 20 years in Public Safety as a career Firefighter, Paramedic and Fire Inspector. He also served 4 years in Army Human Intelligence. In 2017, Brandon left Public Safety and started his own company investing in real estate. In 2019, he became a licensed General Contractor focusing on full rehabs and renovations. In 2021 he got his real estate license and is a real estate negotiation expert (RENE). Brandon has completed numerous long term buy/hold, flips and wholesale deals in the past 5 years. He spends his free time traveling with his two daughters, working out and playing golf. He focuses strongly on building rapport and maintaining relationships with clients.
